JOSHUA GANN
Technically trained at the Kansas City Art Institute and holding a BFA in painting, Joshua started his journey into carpentry post-grad while employed as a free-lance art preparator in the St. Louis museum circuit. After roughly 5 years Joshua decided to step back and embark on a new career once he realized the demands for restoring local cabins near his hometown of Farmington, MO. In 2020 while transitioning mid-pandemic he then began work as a laborer restoring log structures all around Southeast Missouri. Adapting to this new and rigorous trade he took note of everything he saw. Down to every detail. He then took on commissions to build operable shutters for his clients and the woodworking world continued to expand. Meanwhile his research focused on studies of traditional joinery and similar historic practices to strengthen these skills. Passion was cultivated. Craft Revival was born.
He founded Craft in 2021 as a way to pursue these passions and bring quality to every project he would take on, but also as a response to what he noticed in the trades. Few if any trades-people were implementing real lumber in the work they were performing. Installation was being glorified. Work slapped together. So where was the craft? The history of building was so rich and so little explored today so his response was to start a company that focused on providing what was lost: craft. It takes time. It also lasts much longer.
Now in year five, Craft Revival LLC is taking strides to continue offering professional services to log cabins all across Southeast Missouri. As owner of Craft, Joshua has lead and managed teams to seamlessly repair and maintain countless Missouri log homes. New projects focusing on timber framing and construction are excitingly potential in their near future.
